ʻUhaloa has been an essential lāʻau lapaʻau in Hawaiian families for generations, carried forward as a medicine of  strengthening both our respiratories and bodies.

“Kapu ka ʻUhaloa no ke ola loa.
Sacred is ʻuhaloa for long life.”
— Kumulipo, line 1808

“He lāʻau lapaʻau mae ʻole i ka lā” —
a medicine that thrives in the hot sun and has been in Hawaiʻi since the beginning.
ʻUhaloa reminds us that no matter how much Hawaiʻi changes, we too can adapt and continue to be resilient and abundant.

Our lau and pua are grown and harvested in ʻEwa, Oʻahu and hand-packed with care.
Brew it light and golden, or deep and red. Each preparation reveals something different about the plant, the land, and your own body’s response.

CAFFERINE FREE HERBAL TEA

Brewing Guidance

ʻUhaloa is a hardy leaf — the longer it is lightly boiled (small kine bubbles), the deeper the color and flavor.

For deep red, stronger tea:
• Simmer on low for 3+ hours or
• Let steep overnight

For a light golden tea:
• Lightly boil until the color shifts — about 5+ minutes

A palmful ≈ 1 cup
One bag brews a 6qt pot
Re-brew the leaves 2-3x

🌺 Customer Review — Purchased ʻUhaloa Tea, February 2026

“I was feeling terrible with a cold and the vog — such a horrible mix — but after drinking the ʻuhaloa tea, I felt so much better. I’m honestly armed with ʻuhaloa now.

What touched me most was how this lāʻau connected back to my own genealogy. While working on my family history, I found notes from my maternal tutuman written in his old steno pads. He mentioned ʻuhaloa and its medicinal properties for asthma. He has since passed, but reading his words brought everything full circle.

My dad made ʻuhaloa tea for me during the pandemic in 2020, and that was the first time I used it. After that, I switched to mullein tea, but when I saw your post, something told me I needed to get ʻuhaloa again ASAP — and I’m so glad I did.

Mahalo for sharing your māna‘o and passion. It feels so good knowing that the stories of our kūpuna continue to live on in practice.”

“I’ve struggled with extreme asthma ever since getting seriously sick years ago — I was even in the ICU. Breathing has been difficult every day since then. I’ve tried multiple medications, steroids, and inhalers, and nothing was giving me long-term relief. The coughing was nonstop, and simple things like walking or talking made my chest tighten.

I reached out hoping to try ʻuhaloa, and I’m so grateful I did. This tea has supported me in ways my medications weren’t able to. My breathing feels less restricted, and the constant coughing began to ease. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve felt like I had another option besides more meds or stronger prescriptions.

Mahalo for offering this lāʻau and for listening to my story. I’ve already ordered multiple times because it has become part of my daily routine for easing my breath and grounding my body.”

“I got the c-disease and developed asthma for the first time in my life. The doctor prescribed albuterol, but my body didn’t react well to it. Instead of helping, it made me feel weak, shaky, and like my breathing was even more shallow.

When I tried ʻuhaloa tea, the difference was immediate. I could feel my breathing open up, steady, and strengthen in a way the medication couldn’t give me. My body and breathing feels stronger again.

I always have ʻuhaloa at home now — for myself and the kids.
